CHAPTER 11 LISTS OF SIMILAR PERSONS, FAMILIES AND NOTES
OR
SEARCHING YOUR FOLDER FOR SPECIFIC INFORMATION
ADDENDUM J: IF YOU HAPPEN TO SEE ANY PROGRAM ERRORS...
If you've read this far through this chapter -- or even if
you haven't -- you've probably noticed that GIM LISTS is a
very involved, very intricate tool. That sort of involved
intricacy gives GIM LISTS its power, but it also means that
somewhere, there's surely some small problem that we've
overlooked.
We have gone to great lengths to test GIM LISTS thoroughly,
and we've tried to think of everything we could. Still, it's
entirely possible -- however unlikely -- that you might be
able to get GIM LISTS into a situation that it can't handle.
If you should ever see GIM LISTS complain about a "program
error" and quit, it's because you've gotten GIM LISTS into
one of these situations that it can't handle, and that we've
overlooked. If that should ever happen, please report it so
that we can fix it.
The best way to report it is to run GIM in debug mode. That
is to say, instead of starting up GIM by typing "GIM" at your
DOS prompt, start it up by typing "GIM DEBUG" at your DOS
prompt. Then, re-create the program error. When GIM exits,
there will be a file called "gimdebug.out" in your current
directory. Please print that out and mail it to us. This
will be a tremendous help to us as we solve the problem.
